Time is money. Efficiency is key. Deliver on time. Exceed your customer’s expectations. These mantras are so deeply internalized, guiding us to streamline business processes and avoid bottlenecks as much as possible.

When managing perpetual inventory either by moving average or FIFO (First-in, First-out), the item cost is calculated with each transaction. This is the basis for calculating the inventory value at any given time. Depending on the business activity, timing (eg. holiday season), and other factors, there might be cases where you need to release items before the incoming transaction was recorded and before the item cost is calculated.

For such cases SAP Business One provides you the ‘Allow stock release without item cost’ setting:

When selected, you will be able to release items even if the item cost is not recorded yet. If you deselect this option, an error message appears when attempting to release items for which the item cost has not been recorded. You can change this setting at any time.

Available in SAP Business One 9.3, version for SAP HANA and SAP Business One 9.3.
